shadows

Once lying on a different plane
now all the greys cannot contain the night
as the sun moves in
and we go stepping into morning.
Your eyes are more clear now
and although they're only brown
they make me slip and make me fall
I hope that I don't end up broken.
And your voice will dance on the breeze
as you sing through the stillness and around the trees
and I'll hum along though I don't know the words,
content in this perfect place.
The sun comes up higher and it's afternoon
the night will fall again, very soon
I'll have you in the dark again
and we'll both turn into shadows.
